June 10 - Introduction to Ancient Art techniques and materials with emphasis on the First Nation Peoples of Australia and their art as well as ancient Egyptian art as a form of communication.

  • Project #1 -  Rainbow Snake, Platypus and Kangaroo paintings  (Acrylic paint on watercolor or heavy mixed media papers -  black, red, yellow, brown and white)

  • Project #2 - Using the style of Egyptian Hieroglyphics create a modern day picture message that would explain to someone in the future how our culture is today (This may change according to the agegroup)  supplies needed are paper and markers.

June 11 - Introduction to Mosaics and Celtic Lettering using mixed media techniques and watercolor and ink.

  • Project #1 -  Mixed Media Byzantine Panels (Collage paper, magazine pictures, beads and Elmers glue on canvas panels)

  • Project #2 - Twinchies - 2" squares of watercolor paper which we will practice different watercolor techniques and then draw fancy initials with ink like in the Book of Kells. (watercolors, watercolor paper, black and white pens with iridescent or metallic pens)  Also making watercolor pages to use for the collage' project on June 12.

June 12 - Introduction to Collage' and the artists Pete Cromwell, Henri Matisse and Gustav Klimt

  • Project #1 - Collage animals in the style of Pete Cromwell and Henri Matisse (leftover watercolor papers from day before, scissors, Elmers glue and heavy construction paper)

  • Project #2 - Collage "Tree of Life" inspired by Gustav Klimt (collage papers with iridescent pieces and plain colors and shapes, glue and heavy construction paper.)

June 13 - Introduction to Impressionism using oil pastels

  • Project #1 - Van Gogh  inspired sunsets and scenery (oil pastels, mixed media paper, tracing paper, colorless blenders)    *I have a box of these if you do not: pastels and blenders

  • Project #2 - Monet inspired flower gardens
